Wall thickness inconsistency appears after nitriding treatment, despite prior stable production.

Cause–Correction Mapping
  • Mandrel cracks after nitriding
    Cause in: Die

      Corrections

    • Mask entire mandrel side of die except bearing surface prior to nitriding.

    • Grinding 0.25mm or so off webs after nitride to remove brittle layer.
